New here, or stuck?
Jacky takes you through the app screen by screen: the modules, the three ways to practise, changing your level, and where your saved words end up. Every chapter is clickable, so you can jump straight to the part you need.

Spreekwafel focuses on the Dutch you actually need at work: meetings, small talk, feedback, presentations. That is professional Dutch, and it is built by speaking, which is why understanding is not enough. Here's a look inside.

How it works
Choose a topic that fits your work life: meetings, giving feedback, small talk with colleagues, presentations.
No multiple choice, no reading. You hear a prompt, you speak your answer. That's how confidence builds.
Spreekwafel gives you targeted feedback so you actually improve, not just repeat the same mistakes.
A daily speaking habit is worth more than a weekly class. Ten minutes, wherever you are, whenever it fits.
Keep your streak going in the app, not because it unlocks anything, but because ten minutes a day out loud is what actually moves your speaking forward.
Before you start
The things that come up most often, answered plainly.
Yes. Spreekwafel is free to download and free to use, with no in app purchases. Spreekwafel Circle, the live community, is the paid step you can take later if you want to keep going with other people.
A2 and up. You choose your own level in the app: A2, B1 or B2, and you can change it whenever you like. Fair warning, the levels can feel a step higher than you are used to, because this is professional Dutch for the workplace rather than general conversation. Starting a level lower than your certificate says is completely normal.
In Speaking Practice and Open Practice, yes, and that is the point. You record yourself and get a score on your pronunciation. Writing Practice is the quiet option: the same sentences, but you type them from English into Dutch. If you are somewhere you cannot speak, that is where to go.
Ten minutes a day. A module has eight short parts, each built around a real situation at work: asking for help, giving instructions, chasing an update, sitting in a meeting. You can stop after one and pick it up tomorrow.
Speaking Practice gives you ten sentences to say out loud, so you get the words in your mouth. Open Practice describes a situation and asks what you would say, in your own words. Writing Practice uses the same sentences again, from English into Dutch. Together they take you from copying to producing.
Tap the bookmark on any word or sentence and it goes to your own library, sorted per module, with the audio. The Knowledge Base is there too, for looking something up rather than drilling it.
There is a daily reminder in the app. It is switched off when you start, so turn it on and pick your own time. Ten minutes at a fixed moment beats an hour you keep postponing.
Tap the exclamation mark at the top of the screen and send it through. The app is improved every week, and messages from people using it are where most of those improvements come from.
